Engage Marine Commences Operations in Abbot Point
Engage Marine is pleased to celebrate the commencement of towage operations in Abbot Point, under the licence it was awarded by North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) in April.
Engage Marine performed it’s first shipping movement on Friday 1st October, ensuring the safe berthing of the bulk carrier, Lowlands Dawn at Port of Abbot Point’s North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT).
Engage Marine Awarded Marine Contract by Port of Townsville
Engage Marine is pleased to announce it was recently awarded the marine pilot transfer services contract by the Port of Townsville.
Engage have now commenced operations which include the maintenance of the Port of Townsville’s pilot boat vessel ‘Mantaray’ and the safe transfer of marine pilots onto vessels arriving and departing into Abbot Point.
Engage Marine was also recently awarded the towage services contract for the Abbot Point operations by North Queensland Bulk Ports.
Engage Marine CEO, Mark Malone, said “we are pleased to be awarded this contract, which in conjunction with the towage services contract, will allow Engage Marine to deliver operational efficiencies to the port’s stakeholders at the Abbot Point terminal.”
Engage Marine Awarded Contract in Whyalla by CSL Australia
Engage Marine is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract by CSL Australia Pty Ltd (CSL) to support its transhipment operations and perform harbour towage services in the Port of Whyalla, in the Spencer Gulf, South Australia.
The contract, which is due to commence on the 7th September 2021, will involve the mobilisation of three additional tugs to Whyalla to join the Engage Challenger which is currently already operational.
The tugs will be utilised to safely move the Floating Offshore Transfer Barge (FOTB) and Self-Unloading Barges (SUBs), to allow the loading of iron ore onto ocean going vessels at the transhipment point.
Engage Marine Awarded New Towage Licence for Port of Abbot Point
North Queensland Bulk Ports News Release: New Towage Licence Framework announced for Port of Abbot Point
A new towage licence will come into effect at the Port of Abbot Point from 1 October 2021.
After an extensive assessment process, North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) has awarded a Non-Exclusive Towage Licence for the supply of towage services for the Port of Abbot Point to Engage Marine Pty Ltd.
NQBP Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Fertin said the arrangement supports NQBP’s responsibility as a port authority and will provide the framework required for safe and efficient port operations for now and into the future.
Engage Towage Joint Venture Announced
Engage Marine Pty Ltd (Engage Marine) and Smit Lamnalco are pleased to announce their investments in the Australian harbour towage joint venture, Engage Towage Pty Ltd (Engage Towage).
Engage Towage is a sustainable and competitive towage service provider within the Australian marine industry, providing clients with an alternative solution to existing operators. Current Engage Towage operations cover Port Jackson and the Port of Geelong utilising five modern azimuth-drive tugs.
Engage Innovation Launches
Engage Marine Pty Ltd (Engage Marine) is pleased to announce the launch of Engage Innovation, an entity of Engage Marine established to deliver drone technology to the Australian marine and port industry.
Engage Technology has partnered with Australian UAV to deliver drone services including:
• Vessel inspection services
• Inspection of navigational aids
• Infrastructure inspections
• Emergency response
• Image mapping
Engage Technology completed its first project utilising drone technology in September, providing geo-mapping services for a client in Queensland and is currently preparing to undertake drone trials for another client across their operations.
Engage Marine Group Commences Operations in Sydney and Geelong
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Engage Marine Pty Ltd (Engage Marine) is pleased to announce it has commenced harbour towage operations in the Ports of Sydney (Jackson & Gore Bay) and Geelong.
The operations will be performed under the newly established local entities, Engage Towage Sydney and Engage Towage Geelong. Engage Towage will have two primary tugs based in Sydney and two in Geelong. Both operations will be supported by experienced local crews and a national operational team.
Westug Awarded Long Term Rio Tinto Contract
Westug are pleased to have recently been awarded a new long-term towage services contract by Rio Tinto. The new contract covers the four terminals at Rio Tinto’s two ports in the Pilbara (Dampier and Cape Lambert) which last year shipped a combined 330.1 million tonnes of iron ore to customers.
Under the contract, Westug will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of Rio Tinto’s tug fleet of 11 vessels as well as four smaller craft. The contract will help sustain more than 130 jobs.
